Masters of body language subtleties, dogs are finely attuned to us, aware of how we move, act, speak, breathe.

While much of dog training seems focused on the dog, handlers can and do affect their dog’s behavior and learning. Many training problems are rooted in communication issues, caused by a handler’s body language and unintended messages.

The dog’s understanding of the handler’s behavior is built in the details of how the handler typically moves, laughs, smiles, speaks, breathes, etc. in familiar and comfortable settings. But under stress, in unfamiliar or challenging situations, things can change.

Shifts in the handler signals to the dog that the person he relies on is alarmed, angry, worried, or even afraid. Depending on the dog, this can have significant impact on behavior.

This webinar will help you become more aware of your own body language:
o    Breathing
o    Muscle tension
o    Flexion & stance
o    Blink rate
o    Core & gaze orientation

As a bonus, you’ll learn Suzanne’s 5 Point Check approach to handler awareness & self monitoring. This simple but effective technique will help you, and – for professionals – is ideal for your students.

We’ll be doing some interactive exercises throughout the webinar so you get to experiment and experience how simple changes can provide profound changes – for the better!

Join us – your dog will thank you for your improved awareness of your role as your dog’s partner.
